A Cosmetic Procedure for Skin Tightening on the Face

Whether you have loose or crepey skin, aka skin that is wrinkly and has seen a lot of sun exposure over the years, then this device could work for you. The machine used to be called Evoke but is now known as Define. The best part of it is that it is a non-invasive procedure which means no needles or blades and very little downtime. I am going to review the most common questions regarding this procedure.

What areas does it target?

This procedure is for anyone interested in skin-tightening on the face, specifically around their cheeks and jowls or the chin area. You can only do one area at a time.

Is it safe for my skin type?

Yes, Evoke is safe for all skin types.

Who is NOT a good candidate for the procedure?

If you have a pacemaker or defibrillator unfortunately you should not use Evoke. Other people who should not use Evoke include anyone who is pregnant, has open wounds or sores on the face, or has piercings in areas being treated that cannot be removed. This list is not exhaustive and you should discuss your medical history with the person performing the procedure before you start.

How is the machine causing skin tightening on the face?

The machine uses radiofrequency energy to promote blood circulation and stimulate collagen production. This reduces wrinkling and crepey skin as well as provides a natural face-lift and glow to the treated areas. It can also burn fat in the troubled areas so everything will appear more toned.

Does it hurt?

It should not be painful, just a little warm. If it is painful then the patient using it will have a hand-held button to stop the machine.

How many treatments should I do?

It is recommended to do one treatment once a week for 6-8 weeks. After that, you can choose to treat less frequently for maintenance.

How long does each treatment last?

Each treatment is approximately 30-45 minutes.

What should I expect during treatment?

The medical staff will put a helmet-like device on your head and adjust it to fit your face shape. It is adjustable and should be able to fit anyone. They will also apply ultrasound gel on your skin before tightening the device completely. Then the settings will be entered in and likely you will be sitting for 30-45 minutes on your own.

When will I start to see results?

Normally after treatment number 3 you should be able to see visible results. Remember at least 6 treatments are typically recommended.

How much does it cost?

Every location that offers Evoke may charge a different price. I would anticipate paying several hundred dollars PER treatment.

Where can I find the Evoke machine?

Some dermatology offices as well as spas in your area may have the machine available.

Are there other treatments for skin tightening on the face?

Yes, of course. There are surgical treatments such as facelifts and liposuction. There is filler, microneedling, laser treatment such as CO2, and also a non-invasive procedure called Ultherapy which you can read about here.

If you are interested in skin tightening on the cheeks, jowls, or chin area with as little downtime as possible then this is the cosmetic procedure for you.  Have you tried Evoke in the past? If so what did you think of your results? If you have any other questions that I did not cover include those too and I will update the post! Let me know in the comments below.
