My favorite clinically proven hair loss vitamin is Nutrafol. First of all, I want to start off by saying that this is NOT a sponsored post. I truly love Nutrafol and recommend it to a lot of my hair loss patients and I will tell you why. For one, I take it myself and have seen subtle improvement since starting it six months ago. I was so happy with the results that I recently purchased their new shampoo and conditioner. A positive personal experience isn’t the only reason why I recommend this hair loss vitamin to my patients.

Nutrafol is a clinically proven hair loss vitamin available over the counter. This means it does not require a prescription! You can purchase it on their website or off Amazon. The fact that there is clinical research to back it up and that it is easy for patients to obtain since it does not require a prescription is two wins. I also love that is not a one size fits all product, as hair loss treatment rarely is. They have four main types of vitamins. Three are for women and one is for men. One of the options is Women’s Balance, which is specific for post-menopausal women and one is for postpartum women the first year after pregnancy. I am going to tell you the other reasons why I love Nutrafol, and what types of hair loss their vitamin can help with.

Personalized recommendations

Nutrafol has a cool quiz on their website which breaks down the types of products they recommend based on your results. Everyone loves personalized recommendations am I right? The quiz results recommended the vitamins which are their signature item and then B-Energized, which contains 7 B vitamins. I purchased both but ended up discontinuing the vitamin B supplement after a month or two of use simply because I did not enjoy the taste of it. I have religiously been taking the vitamins since Day 1. The recommended dose is four capsules a day. Over six months my hair has been growing faster and feels slightly thicker than before. The best part is the shedding has lessened. This result is in combination with platelet-rich plasma treatments that I do on a consistent basis. More on that later.

Great customer service

This post isn’t meant to be a review of the company, but simply the product. That being said, I would be remised if I didn’t mention their excellent customer service. Two times I have had an issue with my order. One time the vitamin B supplement, which is a bright orange liquid, exploded while in the mail. I reached out to their customer service team with a photo of the ruptured bottle and they immediately sent me a whole new order, including a new jar of vitamins. The second time I had an issue was when my order was lost in the mail. Again, without hesitation, they sent me a replacement. Now you may be thinking, okay that’s all great and everything but is the vitamin right for my type of hair loss? Let’s talk about it.

Types of hair loss Nutrafol can treat

The types of hair loss that will respond best to Nutrafol are your non-scarring forms of hair loss. This includes telogen effluvium, androgenetic alopecia, and vitamin deficiency-related hair loss. Telogen effluvium is a stress-related hair loss. This could be hair loss due to pregnancy, hospitalization, major illness, death in the family, etc. This type of hair loss typically occurs 3-4 months after the stressful event and can take 1-2 years for the hair to regrow on its own. Androgenetic alopecia or hormonal-related hair loss is natural with aging. However, with a positive family history, hair thinning may start as early as your 20s. These types of hair loss along with hair loss related to vitamin deficiency may improve with Nutrafol.

Now you have your personalized regimen backed with great customer service and you know it will help with your specific form of hair loss. The one factor I should warn you about is the price. Nutrafol vitamins are not cheap! They run around $80 a month. It is definitely an investment. If you decide to take the plunge I would at the very least give it 6-9 months before you call it quits. Hair regrowth can be very very slow. If you don’t see improvement at that point it may not continue to be worth it, but that choice will be up to you. Are you taking Nutrafol?
